I know this will remove all doubt as to whether I am nuts or not, but I get very attached to clothing. All guys, I guess, get sentimental about t-shirts, but I find that my boots come to feel like trusted companions; constant, reliable, hard-working. The latest pair to be retired went about five years of welding, tree work, etc. They were from the Carolina Boot Company, and I bought them at Sears. Here they are, pictured on a Lambretta Series 2 in the family scooter cafe.
